Rose > After a lot of research, I chose the Custom Brackets QRS-35-PJ camera bracket (the photojournalist model, which is the lightest but has no tripod adapter).
Rose > The good news is the craftsmanship is superb and the rotation mechanism is like silk. It's easy to hold, it's not flimsy, and it does the two things it's supposed to do: (1) get separation between flash & lens, and (2) keep the flash directly above the lens no matter the orientation of the camera. (I have no relationship with this company.)
Rose > The bad news is you have to buy adapters. This one's for the off-camera flash adapter which I keep in my back for backup to the wireless adapter.
Rose > The adapter for the 550EX flash I use.
Rose > The only real problem I had was the camera adapter for the D60. To really get it right, I had to change its orientation and drill two new holes. (The shiney surface you see is where the cork pad used to go.)
Rose > I had to peel the cork pad off and place it on the other side of the bracket (this photo shows the cork in its final position -- I removed it from the other side).
Rose > And I had to unscrew the two allen screws, and turn the top plate around (this photo shows it's final orientation, not the way it came).
Rose > Finally, the brass thumbscrew was moved to the other side. This photo shows the altered camera adapter attached to the bracket, the way I use it now.
Rose > In my opionion, you want the camera low (more separation from the flash) and the mount aft of the base, so the center of gravity of the camera is centered on the bracket.
