Custom Brackets for the D60

After a lot of research, I chose the Custom Brackets QRS-35-PJ camera bracket (the photojournalist model, which is the lightest but has no tripod adapter).

The bad news is you have to buy adapters. This one's for the off-camera flash adapter which I keep in my back for backup to the wireless adapter.

I had to peel the cork pad off and place it on the other side of the bracket (this photo shows the cork in its final position -- I removed it from the other side).

And I had to unscrew the two allen screws, and turn the top plate around (this photo shows it's final orientation, not the way it came).

Finally, the brass thumbscrew was moved to the other side. This photo shows the altered camera adapter attached to the bracket, the way I use it now.

In my opionion, you want the camera low (more separation from the flash) and the mount aft of the base, so the center of gravity of the camera is centered on the bracket.

The final configuration does not interfere with focusing, zooming, changing the battery, or any of the rear controls.
